Angelina Jolie Basically Wore a Wedding Gown to the Airport

I literally just hopped off the plane at MSP with my suitcase and laptop (and a dream and cardigan, of course). My flight was at 6:00 a.m., and whenever I take such an early trip, I simply roll out of bed, put on my comfiest clothes, and call my Uber. I never actually look nice at the airport, even when I have ample time to get ready;that’s because I’m a comfort-first traveler, and I think it’ll take a lot for that change. That said, I can certainly admire a fashion-forward airport look, and Angelina Jolie just hit it out of the park. In fact, she literally looks like she could be walking down the aisle with her ethereal, bridal-inspired look.

Jolie always looks put together, regardless of where she is or where she’s going — and this recent outfit is perhaps the most solid piece of evidence to back that statement. When someone looks as chic as she does at the airport, after being on a plane for countless hours, you can best bet they’ll look just as chic anywhere else. For this recent travel occasion, Jolie went with an ethereal, bridal-inspired look that featured a long, drapey white gown that could literally be a wedding dress. But long, white dresses clearly aren’t only reserved for the altar — and while we see less of the style come fall, when the temperatures drop and leaves start to change colors, the actress’ outfit is proof that maybe (just maybe) you should considering wearing a white dress — even if you’re not walking down the aisle.

Jolie’s base piece was obviously that white dress, which featured a deep V-neck and a big, flowy A-line skirt, but she seasoned it up — literally — with a sleek black wool coat that’s a travel must-have. Anyone who’s ever been on a plane knows that it can get quite chilly, so the best thing you can do is wear a topper that doubles as a blanket. Jolie’s outerwear is just that, plus it also tones down the airy white dress, making it slightly more casual and travel-friendly. The finishing touches included beige heels that subtly peeked out from underneath the maxi and a Celine tote bag that’s perhaps the chicest travel bag I’ve ever seen. Well done, Jolie!

That said, there’s something inherently dreamy about a long white dress. While it makes for a quintessential bridal look, the staple can and should also be worn elsewhere à la Jolie. Think: to the airport! To a nice dinner! To the office! It’s versatile, timeless essential that’s simply beautiful. And if the white is too risqué for you, I get it — my advice is to opt for a maxi dress in general, which is, naturally, one of fall’s most beloved silhouettes. The long hemline offers ample leg coverage that’s ideal for the cooler months, plus it looks great with heels, knee-high boots, and sneakers, autumn’s most popular shoes.
